One of the biggest mistakes I see in cancer care is that oftentimes people think that the tumor is the problem and therefore that is the only focus. The Standard of Care of conventional oncology does not help this tendency, as that is the only thing they focus on too. You can slash, burn or poison your tumor or cancer, but unless you also address the soil that the cancer grew in, you are not likely to resolve the cancering process for the long term. Cancer is a systemic problem, not a localized problem-- it is caused by imbalances, toxicities and issues within the whole body. Two of my mentors, Dr. Nasha Winters and Jess Higgins Kelley wrote a phenomenal book, The Metabolic Approach to Cancer, that elucidates 10 terrain categories that can contribute to a cancering process that need to be resolved if you want to improve your terrain. These categories help us understand the contributing factors that may have caused your cancer. Addressing and improving them can help you improve your body's soil and beat your cancer. The Terrain 10 are:
Genetic, epigenetic and Nutrigenomic Modifications
Blood Sugar Balance
Toxin Burden Management
Repopulating and Balancing the Microbiome
Immune System Maximization
Modulating Inflammation and Oxidative Stress
Enhancing Blood Circulation while inhibiting angiogenesis and Metastasis
Establishing Hormone Balance
Recalibrating Stress Levels and Biorhythms
Enhancing Mental and Emotional Well Being
Identifying the areas of your bioindividual body, life and environment need addressing is one of the things that I offer my clients. You can take the Terrain 10 quiz here to find out what you most need to work on: Terrain 10 Quiz
