The Metabolic Approach to Cancer is not just keto.

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that the metabolic approach to cancer is simply about eating a ketogenic diet.

It isn't.

Keto is an incredibly valuable tool—and it's one that I use frequently in my practice—but it is only one tool in a much larger toolbox.

A well-formulated therapeutic ketogenic diet (SuperKeto!) can help stabilize blood sugar, reduce insulin signaling, lower inflammation, and support metabolic flexibility. For the right person, at the right time, it can be a powerful part of a comprehensive plan.

But it is not the entire metabolic approach.

Just as the name of my practice, Not Just Broccoli, suggests, health is never about one food, one supplement, one lab test, or one diet. Health is about the whole person.

When someone receives a cancer diagnosis, it's natural to focus on the tumor. But if we only focus on the tumor, we miss the environment that allowed it to develop in the first place.

A metabolic approach asks a different question:

What is happening throughout the body that may be influencing your health?

It isn't just the tumor. It's your body's terrain.

It isn't just food.

It isn't just your genetic blueprint.

It isn't just toxic exposures.

It isn't just gut health.

It isn't just immune function.

It isn't just inflammation.

It's isn't just hormone balance.

It isn't just oxidative stress.

It isn't just movement.

It isn't just chronic stress.

It isn't just disrupted sleep.

It isn't just past trauma.

It isn't just your thoughts, beliefs, and nervous system.

It's all of these things.

Every person has a unique story, unique biology, and unique terrain.

The goal isn't to obsess over every possible factor. It's to understand your biggest opportunities for healing and resilience.

That's why we test.

We assess.

We look deeper.

Rather than guessing, we gather information through advanced labs, health history, genetics, lifestyle, nutrition, symptoms, and conversation. We look for patterns that help explain where your body is struggling—and where it has the greatest capacity to heal.

This is the work I do every day with my clients.

I walk alongside them as they explore not only their biology, but also the habits, environments, and experiences that shape their health. Together, we create a personalized roadmap that supports the whole person—not just the diagnosis.

I've walked this path myself, both professionally and personally. I know firsthand how empowering it is to understand your body more deeply and to make intentional changes based on your own unique terrain rather than generic recommendations.

That is the metabolic approach to cancer.

And ultimately, it's the metabolic approach to living well.
